The Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), commonly known as Tecnológico de Monterrey, was founded in 1943 by a group of entrepreneurs headed by Don Eugenio Garza Sada. Seeking to educate professionals and equip them with the skills needed to succeed in the business world, Tecnológico de Monterrey has developed into an institution recognised, nationally and internationally, for its academic excellence.A private, non-profit nationwide university system, Tecnológico de Monterrey comprises 32 campuses spread throughout 26 Mexican cities. With 95,000 students, nearly 3,500 of them from across of the globe, one of Tecnológico de Monterrey's priorities is internationalisation. The University maintains 14 liaison offices in the US, Canada, Europe, China and Latin America, and promotes an international exchange programme offering academic research and continuing education for both students and professors. Tecnológico de Monterrey offers 34 undergraduate programmes and 59 postgraduate programmes, as well as distance learning opportunities through the Virtual University satellite broadcast system. Its faculty comprises 7,600 professors who hold Masters degrees or higher, to facilitate an innovative, student-centred educational model.
