The University of Hong Kong
The University of Hong Kong, the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong, was established in 1911 from the Hong Kong College of Medicine which dated back to 1887. There are nine faculties and a School of Business: Architecture, Arts, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science and Social Sciences. Together, more than 50 first degree programs and 20 postgraduate degree curricula are offered. In research, about 2,000 projects are being conducted in the academic year, 1996-97. The total number of students is 14,700, inclusive of 4,600 postgraduates.The University has forged links with more than 150 universities all over the world. Its student exchange scheme involving some 300 students annually, cover institutions in Australia, Japan, Mainland China, New Zealand, North America, the United Kingdom, etc.
