The University of Melbourne
The University of Melbourne was established in 1853. When the University opened in 1855 it was the first university in the state of Victoria and only the second in Australia. The University is divided into 11 faculties, the School of Graduate Studies and the Melbourne Business School and has some 2,000 academic staff. The University is home to over 1,700 international students from 40 countries undertaking undergraduate, postgraduate and Study Abroad programs. Nine University residential colleges and three halls of residence are situated close to the campus.
