The University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham received its Royal Charter in 1948, but traces its roots to the 18th century. Its main campus occupies a 330-acre parkland site three miles west of central Nottingham. Research and teaching are carried out in the Faculties of Arts, Law and Social Sciences, Education, Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Food Science, and Medicine and Health Science. In 1996/7 there were some 14,000 full-time and 8,000 part-time students, including nearly 2,000 drawn from over 100 countries.
